tabsoutliner.com registration was updated on 2020!

Hikari 4 years ago updated by Rogerio Souza 3 years ago 1

Hello kind TO premium users mates.

I've had some times where TO license gets broken and has to be re-registered. When Chrome is opened after a PC reboot, TO window just suggests being registered and its premium features are turned off.

It's not a big deal compared to other issues, all we gotta do is open in a new tab our https://tabsoutliner.com/setlicensekey URL, and it's back registered.

But there's this issue, registering our license requires entering on a registration server under tabsoutliner.com domain. Once the host subscription or domain registration expires, we won't be able to re-register our licence, in the case of reinstalling Chrome or registration breaking again. That's a big issue, as TO owner is long gone and hasn't even logged on this forum for over a year.

I just figured that, and rushed to see how much time we had until the domain ownership is taken by its registrar. And, for my surprise, it was renewed on 2020! 2020-02-06, 1 month before it'd expire!

That means vladyslav.volovyk didn't bother to do a simple login on the forum to see what his paying users have been saying, but had the time and money to renew his domain!

It's first of all an evidence that he hadn't died at all. That's a relief, and now we have our license server available at least until 2021-03, as long as the hosting is also renewed!

But, if he is alive and active enough to login on Namecheap and renew the domain, why is he silent? Why did he stop developing the extension? Why couldn't he at least come here and read my post asking for him to open the source? Why is the premium edition still available for buying, if there's no update for 3 years and no relevant word from him for even more years?!

Well, this got me pissed. I still have hundreds of tabs stored on TO and I wanna move them out and uninstall Chrome before the year ends.

Option/button to delete all duplicate tabs with the same URL

Will 6 years ago 0

I have some 2k+ tabs open from crashed sessions. It would be a lot easier to clean them out if I could judge each tab once and close all the duplicates of that tab everywhere in my trees.

I'm really big on using hierarchical outlines to organize my thinking, so I'm finding this a GREAT tool to help keep my OCD/ADD browsing habits under control.

Microsoft has rolled out Tab Groups in the latest beta of Chrome. Any chance TO will support them soon?

Option to turn off scrolling OR just show the whole tree when there's only a few tabs

ven Torrella 12 years ago updated by Jonathan Levi 8 years ago 7

Hi, I've just started using TO and I'm trying to train myself in using this and I 'm starting to like it. However, i don't like the behavior of auto scrolling to the active window too much. The reason is, while this is useful when there are a lot of tabs open, that is not always the case, sometimes i will have just a couple of tabs in each window.

So, what i'm saying is, as the title suggest, an option to turn off auto scrolling  can be useful, or better yet, just show the whole tree if there's only a few tabs active and auto scroll only if the whole tree doesn't fit in the window.

Thank you.

Note please that in this case, when you have "just a couple of tabs in each window" and only several windows you actually rarely need Tabs Outliner in a first place. So I am not sure it is worth to tweak anything to make this case perfect, as in real life TO will be not used or bringed to front anyway when there is only several windows with only a couple of tabs.

Bug when working with pinned tabs

Dword 9 years ago updated by Qwerty Qwerty 9 months ago 5

Hey there,

there seems to be a small issue when working with pinned tabs:

Generally, Tabs Outliner remembers the pinned status of a tab and restores it when closing and reopening a window. However, the first pinned tab is always converted to a normal tab whereas the others stay pinned as expected. Minimal example:

1. Open Google, Ebay and Amazon in their respective tabs

2. Pin Google and Ebay

3. Save the window with a name like "Test"

4. Close the window

5. Reopen it with Tabs Outliner

6. Ebay is pinned whereas Google and Amazon are normal tabs

That does not seem to be the expected behavior. Please inform me if you fix this since it would make my workflow much easier!

Thanks for the great extension by the way ;).

Best wishes,

Sebastian Landwehr

Indicate difference between TO and TO cloned view in the tab title

vittorio 12 years ago updated by vladyslav volovyk 12 years ago 0

At the moment, when you open up a cloned view, there is no way to visually distinguish which is the cloned view and which is the auto-scrolling view from the tab title. Displaying "Tab Outliner (cloned)" or some other visual indicator in the tree view would be helpful to be able to easily close the view you're not interested in from the TO panel.

Search without expanding notes

Jorr 11 years ago updated by vladyslav volovyk 11 years ago 3
Would it be too much work to implement a search that is smart enough to sift through closed nodes? Currently I can expand all nodes and use the normal web-page search on the TO window, however expanding the nodes is sluggish and if i forget to re-close them and Chrome restarts, it's all gone, I need to go to each one and collapse it, which is extremely annoying. To me the entire "undo expanding all nodes" feature feels a little like a hack. I believe it is only useful for save as html and for search. But it seems possible to implement both of these without relying to expanding nodes or by expanding them, do the job and then collapsing them both.

I realize this would be low priority, but please consider :)
Once again, thumbs up for the good work!

Of course it's a hack.
And of course a better search is very needed and planed.
As many other things... (the tags, for example)
Still this is not in a very low priority, many other new features depends from a better native search (through the TO interface). (to make, for example, the tags to work nicely there is needed a filtered search with auto-complete, so i can assure you that native search is planed and badly wanted)
