Trash/save icons should stay visible when you click one of them

Peter Eliot 10 years ago updated by vladyslav volovyk 9 years ago 6
Currently, when you click trash/save on a node, the buttons will be gone until you move the mouse or click again.

Given how often I click in the same spot to close a series of nodes, I would like if when you click trash/save, it keeps the icons visible/clickable for whatever is now under the mouse, without needing a mouse-wiggle or click to activate.

Interesting, on Windows and Ubunta it's definitely works for me as you describe in preferred behavior, maybe this is something Mac specific, need to investigate.

I definitely have to wiggle and its a real pain. This is on Chrome on OSX.

Really I would like an option for the icons to just always be visible. Both the delete and the action icons in the corner. Right now I have to active the window and then move my mouse a bit to do anything. Its a real pain.
Here is a video showing the problem.

At the start you can see me moving the mouse around but no icons show up. That is because the window isn't active yet. On the Mac the window doesn't active until you click on it. So you have to click and then move the mouse around before the icons show up.

At around 0:08 you can see me deleting rows, but the trash icon doesn't show up for the next row right away. Instead I have to jiggle the mouse to get it to show.

At around 0:19 I click outside the window so its no longer active. Then you can see me trying to get the action icons to show up. They won't because the window isn't active. So I once again have to click inside the window and then move the mouse around to get them.
Sorry, here is the screencast - http://screencast.com/t/rmAE3xB0XA
Thanks for a screencast, very informative.
Unfortunately, looks like it's a Chrome or system issue.
I think from Chrome extension it's cannot be done much to react on mouse on inactive window, on windows & Ubuntu it's work ok.
As for not reapearing cursor (hovering menu) - i will investigate and most likely fix this issue. Agree, it's a pain.

Thanks again for a screen-cast, i see this problem for a first time.
A small tip meantime - deleting items row by row is not very productive anyway. Much more handy just drag & drop all items you plan to delete in a pile on some node, than collapse the pile and delete all in one click.
Nodes can be quickly collapsed by clicking circle in the hovering menu.
But of course need something done about the fact that cursor does not reappear on a next row.

Actually i am sure that this is already fixed already in my private version of Tabs Outliner, which i am not released meantime, as it's have keyboard cursor management and cursor never disappear, even if the current node or hierarchy where it is placed deleted.

But it's unclear meantime when i will be ready to release this version. It will be most likely will be published as separate project, as it's have a lot of changes. Notification will be given in the original Tabs Outliner.

Yet i will check, maybe it can be easily fixed in the current version also.
