tjbinno hace 11 años actualizado por Rod hace 3 años 10

Looking for a way to backup (and restore) my TO setup.  Just had to uninstall and restore Chrome and realized I had lost all my work.  So looking for a way to  backup and restore my new setup

Please see there instructions of how to transfer your database:

Also worth note that there is really easy way to backup and transfer your data:

Just expand all nodes, save the view through Ctrl-S and you will be able to drag hierarchies from this file to some other Tabs Outliner instance, or just use this file on its own.

Any chance the "continuous backup to the cloud" feature is done?  The lack of this feature is the only reason I stopped using TO about 2 years ago (after losing everything in a crash).

Thanks!
Dan

Cloud solution (google drive) is done for paid versions but It's very counter intuitive to find. I was googling for over 10 minutes and didn't find anything. Until I finally tried clicking on the extension button -> Options. This should be accessible from the list of (the many not-so-useful) buttons in the bottom of the main window.

To restore directly from the cloud after losing a hard drive (or for any other reason), launch Chrome and sign in to the browser so all of your extensions and settings reappear. Right click on the Tabs Outliner icon in the extensions list and select "options", or click on the gear icon in the Tabs Outliner window in the buttons section. Navigate to the "Backups" tab. Find the backup you want to use, and click "View". At the top of the new window, you will find a node labeled "Current Session". Grab this and drag it to your Tabs Outliner window which should transfer everything over. Now everything should be pretty much back to normal. If not, try the grab and drag again.

Even though Tabs Outliner calls the cloud backup "Google Drive Backup", I was not able to find a file or folder in my Google Drive that contained any backup data. I'm not sure where it is being stored, but it's definitely putting it somewhere that it can find. Just use Tabs Outliner to do the restore, and don't be frustrated if you can't find it manually.

Happy browsing!

I tried moving the described folder from a W-7 os pc to a new pc with W-10  os; it did no work. When I reinstalled the TO app to Chrome the prior few tabs that I had opened in Chrome when I first installed TO in Chrome reappeared in TO after I reinstalled it. Too bad!

I'm going to try loading the tab outliner content (putting each group of TO node links into a separate folder on the W-7 Chrome bookmarks bar until I have all of them , and then exporting the bookmarks content to the W-10 pc.

On the W-10 pc I have already tried opening a Chrome bookmarks bar folder with several website links in it as new tabs. they then appear as new entries in the new TO app. I will however have to rearrange them under a TO node with an appropriate name. It is some manual work, but I think it will work.

Tried transferring files from my old chrome-extension_eggkanocgddhmamlbiijnphhppkpkmkl_0.indexeddb.leveldb to the new one with TO uninstalled, when I install TO it overwrites the files and my old links don't show up when I open TO.   jjust the current tabs links open

My old windows install corrupted so I can't just open it and ctrl+s

I just purchased tabs outliner this morning so that I could restore some tabs sessions.  I went to perform the drag and drop method into the tabs outliner windows, and it definitely does not work.  It instead replaces the tabs outliner window with the first link in the list from the dragged backup.

Please make a simple one-click restore feature please!

I went into the same problem as you describe, Jason Gress.

I finally found my mistake: do not drop the tree in the tabs outliner window unless you see the blue marks indicating that the target window has "understood" what you are going to drop there.

If you don't see the blue lines marks, the content will be handled by the default browser behavior which is: display it.

If you see blue lines, this is the Tabs Outliner code which will handle your data.

check that you arelogged into the same user in windows. thats what happened to me.

A few months ago I backed up my TO tree and I must have saved as a plain html document. Now when I open the document I can only import one link at a time.  I also tried selecting the entire document and dragging but everything gets moved as one link.  I have hundreds of saved links is there a way to import the entire tree from the plain HTML or convert the plain html to complete html?  I also have the tree saved as a .doc file if it’s easier to import that way.
